Qatar Airways is the national airline of Qatar. It is one of the most reputed airlines in the world and is the seven-time winner of the “World’s Best Airline” award voted by Skytrax. They do have some strict rules regarding the consumption of alcohol that causes some commonly asked questions which is what I have tried to answer here.
Does Qatar Airways serve alcohol?
In Qatar, alcohol consumption in public without a permit is prohibited. However, it is permitted on planes, in bars, in clubs and in some licensed hotels. So yes, alcohol is served on most international flights of the Qatar Airways. Complimentary drinks are provided to all classes of the plane, although, the variety of alcohol depends on which class you are seated in. The availability depends on the route and destination of the flight, as some countries have restrictions on alcohol. They serve a variety of alcoholic beverages like wines, beers, spirits, cocktails and non-alcoholic mocktails and soft drinks based on your preference. The staff has a right to refuse drinks to any passenger that may seem intoxicated. Also, passengers are not allowed to consume their own alcoholic beverages on board.
What is the age limit for consumption of alcohol on Qatar Airways?
The minimum age for consumption of alcohol on Qatar Airways is 18 years old. Anyone below this age will not be served alcohol.
Does Qatar Airways serve drinks during Ramadan?
During Ramadan, the holy month of Muslims, you can expect some restrictions on alcohol. Drinks may not be available on the menu and you may face some service charges while ordering alcoholic drinks. On the other hand, soft drinks are available as usual.
Is alcohol served at Hamad International Airport?
Yes, alcohol is served in Doha Airport. For economy passengers there are a few bars that serve alcohol. For business class and Qatar loyalty customers, alcohol is served in the Al Mourjan Business Lounge and first- class lounges.
However, during the holy month of Ramadan, the Hamad International Airport does become dry, as does the country and no alcohol is served anywhere.
Can you buy alcohol in the Doha Airport?
Yes, Alcohol can be purchased inside the Airport on your way out but not on the way in. All bags are scanned by customs, so trying to sneak alcohol in won’t work. If you purchase alcohol in the airport it will be duty-free and will be handed to you in a transparent, tamper-proof bag that is sealed with a purchase receipt.
You can not drink the alcohol that you buy at the airport.
